A TetraMap evangelist! Having become a certified TetraMap facilitator, Chris Prees is keen to share the benefits of using this nature-inspired framework to better understand human behaviour.

When you join Curium, you are invited to become a certified TetraMap facilitator. I am passionate about developing people and seeing them realise their full potential, so achieving this was a key objective for me.

As you can imagine, it was a little frustrating that three opportunities came and went before I could actually register for the certification course. But, in the business of delivering complex change projects, the customer comes first!

At the beginning of the year, I committed to a few things: to have more experiences as an individual and with my family; and to learn and develop more in my profession.

In February, I finally attended a TetraMap facilitator certification course. TetraMap is a behavioural learning tool that uses four elements from nature: earth, air, water and fire.

The metaphor of nature is simple, and it’s one we can all relate to and easily understand. The addition of communication tools, and examples of behaviours manifested by each element are extremely helpful, particularly, I think, for those in leadership.

I knew that attending the course would help me, but I didn’t realise that it would change my life! That may sound like an exaggeration, but it’s absolutely true.

TetraMap taught me so much. One of the statements that stood out was this: “Using TetraMap gives you an understanding of our behaviours and with that understanding comes acceptance.”

The fact that we can learn to accept behaviours may sound simple, but how many of us actually put that into practice?

I was telling a friend last week about TetraMap and how he needs to get in his life and in his organisation. He said, “Wow, you have become a TetraMap evangelist!” Well yes, I guess that’s true.

I honestly believe that this is the best learning tool and framework I have come across in the 15 years of my career and everyone should absolutely experience it!

So, if you haven’t already and you’re sat reading this wondering what on earth am I going on about, take a look at these blogs from people who have also experienced TetraMap:

We are also running taster sessions in March and April, and certification courses in April and June. Sign up to our mailing list to find out more.

"To date I've facilitated 24 TetraMap sessions since being accredited, each session bringing different learning and understanding every time.  I've witnessed some  momentous 'lightbulb' moments for some people, which makes my day.  The biggest win for me with TetraMap is that it's just so applicable in the workplace, delegates remember their preference, and are still having discussion about it 6 months down the line."

- Ally Wightman
Senior Leadership Development Consultant, Telefonica UK

"I always choose TetraMap as the model of behaviour because the feedback from delegates consistently reflects a positive experience and extremely high application back in the 'real world'.  It's reassuring to be approached by delegates from years gone by to be told how the experience has changed their lives for the better, both inside and outside of work."

- Dan Masters
Training Consultant

"It's a phenomenally powerful tool for managers to communicate more effectively with their team."

- Ben Long
Trainer, BSkyB

"We are delighted with the results which speak for themselves.  TetraMap is the most memorable take away from the Ignite programme.  We have used the model in our management training to help improve coaching skills, communication skills and how to recognise how the different elements behave under stress.  This has been invaluable in helping our managers develop their teams more effectively."

- Tessa Roff
Training Manager, Nationwide Building Society

TetraMap is probably one of the most power and simple tools I have come across to get people, teams and communities working together constructively and with massive speed and accuracy.
